Fix for launching apps from OD
Published on September 8, 2010 By TheQuikOne In ObjectDock

I posted this as a reply to another problem, but it seems to have got lost. Maybe just Vista and/or 64-bit related, but I don't know.

Nevertheless, it is something that may solve quite a few niggles when launching things from Objectdock, so I thought it may be worth posting again.

Have you ever noticed that when you launch Word or Excel from Objectdock the aero glass effect doesn't display, but if you launch the same application from the start menu it does?

The problem is not the target application's compatibility mode, it is Objectdock's compatibility mode.

So go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock
right-click objectdock.exe
go to the compatability tab,
make sure the compatibility mode box is unchecked,  (it maybe already)
but ALSO click on the 'show settings for all users box' at the bottom
and make sure the box is unchecked there too!  (it wasn't for me)

OK everything, and Restart Objectdock,
launch the app.... it should now be displayed in its aero glass glory.

There is also a common problem launching Google Chrome from OD and getting the error:
'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application'.

I also had a problem with the menus in Acrobat after launching from OD, which was solved after doing this.

This is also a fix for the glass effect in the Firefox 4 beta.
